As some of you may know, Canada is being presented with the rare opportunity to view the works of Caravaggio right here in Ontario at the National Gallery in Ottawa.

This past week I was invited to attend a private function at which the Caravaggio exhibit was formally announced and images from my “Viso” series were exhibited for the event. It was great to see and have a chat Marc Mayer, the Gallery director and CEO of The National Gallery.

There have only been two Caravaggio exhibits in North America, the last one being over 25 years ago. I am looking forward to attending the opening of the show.

You can find more information about the Caravaggio exhibit at The National Gallery’s website: www.gallery.ca/caravaggio

I also had the chance to meet the beautiful Ninalee Craig at the function. Craig (formerly known as Jinx Allen) met Ruth Orkin in Florence, Italy in 1951. Orkin photographed Craig and the resulting images morphed into a series including Orkin’s arguably most famous photograph, “American Girl in Italy”. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the photographs.
