A while back I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing the beautiful Cindy Gomez. She is such a wonderful, happy person with a warm soul. For a while now, Cindy has been working with Dave Stewart (of Eurythmics fame), Mick Jagger, and Ringo Starr.

Cindy Gomez – 30×40 Inches- Series of 8

These are some of the many images we captured with Cindy. Much like when I photographed Leonard Cohen wearing angel wings, she was very receptive to my ideas including being photographed holding a snake- something that not everyone would agree to.

I am happy to say that Cindy has a new release entitled “Fuego Fatal”, her first fully spanish Mini-Album with four songs co-written by herself, as well as one song entitled “I Could Fall In Love” which was produced and written by Dave Stewart and Shakira.

Below is a link to a free download of her first single “El Mundo”.

Congratulations to Cindy on her wonderful album.

After working on commercials and music videos for over 12 years, it is exciting and challenging to be completing my first feature length documentary.
Piazza Petawawa: The Paradox sheds light on the events of the Italian Internment that took place  in Canada during World War II.

Petawawa, Ontario.

On June 10th, 1940, Prime Minister Mackenzie King announced the detainment and internment of Italian Canadians. This gave the RCMP the ability to arrest and detain any Italian Canadian without real proof of threat, disloyalty, or subversion to our government. Over 700 men (and a number of women) suffered through the internment.  Many of these men lost sons fighting in the war for Canada, others went on to risk their lives for Canada after they were released.

With the help of friends and family (Including Juno Award Winners) we have worked very hard in realizing this documentary. We can’t wait to show you the finished product this summer. We will keep you posted.

Fitness is always something that you hear people talking about. Recently, we had the opportunity to photograph real club members for the newly opened One Health Club locations in Mississauga and Oakville.

Meet Maja – One of the great club members that we had the opportunity to photograph. We gave her a real workout for this photoshoot!  As a member of the Oakville location, Maja and her husband Chad had a small trek to get to our west end studio. Once they arrived, the fun began.

Photographing athletic portraits is always a great way to play with lighting. Getting just the right highlight on the smallest bead of sweat can be a feat, but this lighting style plays up the look in all the right ways.

A special thanks to Rachel Smith, our fantastic hair and makeup master on this shoot.

Technology has definitely come a long way since the days of typewriters and the first televisions. Many of you are probably familiar with gesture controlled computer programs (PlayStation®Move for example) and some of you have probably taken part in an exercise using this technology at some point.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph Vincent John Vincent for a cover story and feature article in the Grid TO. Vincent is one of the founding members of Gesturetek, the holders of the patent for this fantastic and mind blowing technology.

The shoot its self was extremely exciting and I couldn’t be happier with the final result.

These images are lit solely with a green laser. A challenging endeavor that yielded interesting and very striking results.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the shoot. To Vincent for being a great subject, and to Shelbie Vermette of The Grid TO for this fantastic opportunity.

As some of you may know, Canada is being presented with the rare opportunity to view the works of Caravaggio right here in Ontario at the National Gallery in Ottawa.

This past week I was invited to attend a private function at which the Caravaggio exhibit was formally announced and images from my “Viso” series were exhibited for the event. It was great to see and have a chat Marc Mayer, the Gallery director and CEO of The National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa).

Myself, Marc Mayer (gallery director and CEO at the National Gallery of Canada), Ninalee Craig (model), and Flavio Belli (curator)

There have only been two Caravaggio exhibits in North America, the last one being over 25 years ago. I am looking forward to attending the opening of the show.

You can find more information about the Caravaggio exhibit at The National Gallery’s website: www.gallery.ca/caravaggio

“American Girl in Italy” by Ruth Orkin.

I also had the chance to meet the beautiful Ninalee Craig at the function. Craig (formerly known as Jinx Allen) met Ruth Orkin in Florence, Italy in 1951. Orkin photographed Craig and the resulting images morphed into a series including Orkin’s arguably most famous photograph, “American Girl in Italy”. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the photographs.

Hey guys,

I just want to give a big thanks to everyone who made it to the show last Thursday. We had a great turnout and a lot of fun. For those of you who weren’t able to make the opening, there’s still time. The show will be open until November 1st. Once again, thank you to everyone who came out.

I would like to extent a Thank-You to Rosa Graci for all of the time and effort put into curating the exhibit.

Rosa Graci, gallery Curator.

Paul Rosen is a paralympian, a motivational speaker and inspiration to many. At the age of 39, Paul had his lower leg amputated just above the knee. In 2006 he competed as a goalie for the Canadian sledge hockey team at the Winter Paralympic Games held in Turin, Italy where the team won gold. We were thrilled to have Paul join us for the opening.

Hello All,

I would like to announce my latest show entitled “Viso”. The images have been hung in the Joseph D. Carrier Gallery and the opening is approaching quickly. The curator Rosa Graci has been receiving some wonderful comments, which is always nice to hear.

The opening will be from 6:30 – 9:30 on Thursday October 7th and would love for you to attend. If you can’t make it, the show will be up until November 1st.

Here is a time lapse of the opening night. We had a lot of fun putting it together, hope you enjoy it.

Feel free to leave a comment and let us know what you think.

Remember the show is still on until May 23rd, 2010

Hey Guys,

Thank you to all those who have come out to the opening of my exhibit. It has been a crazy few weeks, and a wonderful ride so far. For those of you who have not had a chance to swing by yet, the exhibit will be open until May 23rd. Here are a few snaps from the vernissage.

The Team: Jason Mamone, Rino Noto, Gerry Mamone, Asha Hodura, Les Wawrow

Thank you to Gerry, Asha, Les, Jill, Paola, Jason, Mike, Christina, Peter, Dave & Shelley and Barbara & Monja from Cake Star  for all your hard work.
