Monthly Archives: June 2012

As the time draws near for the opening night of the Italian Contemporary Film Festival, it is beginning to dawn on me the magnitude of what we have created. Over the course of almost 2 years, we have gone from an application floating around between a few desks to a 32 minute short documentary – a true labour of love. It is an ever evolving project and we hope to expand it in the future.

Last Friday I had the pleasure of being interviewed live by Rose Palmieri on Toronto’s very own CIUT 89.5FM. The interview offers a peek into the ideas and beliefs behind Piazza Petawawa: The Paradox. You can listen to the interview below. I also have an interview with the wonderful Laura D’Aprile, airing on Omni Television tonight.

Loss is a powerful undercurrent in life that affects us all.  Piazza Petawawa: The Paradox focuses on a segregated group of people’s loss of life, freedom, dignity, property, and time during a very contentious period in our history.

I am proud to say that Piazza Petawawa is slated to be the opening show at the first annual Italian Contemporary Film Festival here in Toronto.

There are so many wonderful people to thank who helped out in our project.  Of course, none of this would have taken place without the support of the Italian Canadian Business and Professional Association and all the subjects we interviewed, who contain a wealth of knowledge on the internment.

As a project that has taken almost two years to produce, it is a very fulfilling and wonderful feeling to have this opportunity to showcase all of the hard work of everyone involved. This project has been a labour of love and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.

Piazza Petawawa: The Paradox is premiering at the TIFF Bell Light Box (350 King St. W), on Tuesday June 26, at 6:00pm. If you wish to attend, tickets are on sale now online and at select locations. Check out this link for more information
