Last year at this time, I needed a distraction so I went to Caribana, Toronto’s Caribbean Festival.  I thought I’d post some of the photos I took that day.  So much was going on with me personally, with my father being in the hospital in palliative care, my emotions were running high and I needed a creative release.

Despite all the pageantry I seemed to focus on the relationships that exist among this community and in particular among friends.

Unknowingly, these images may show how people were able to put aside, for a brief moment, all their differences and realities of life and some how escape, embracing the fact that they were so exposed both physically and emotionally. As I also escaped my reality.
